Lester Buttress

  • 11 - Jughandle Wall

    Climb up the centre of the small wall just left of the grassy banking, crossing the overlap on excellent holds.

  • 12 - Small Oak Crack

    Grade: 4b | First Ascent: -1970
    Rating: 0

    A wide crack with jammed blocks and an oak tree at its top, just beyond the grassy hummock.

  • 13 - Lester Corner

    Rating: 0

    Start as for Lester Rib, but go right using a flake, into the corner and up this to a grass ledge. Scrappy.

  • 14 - Sleeping Genie

    Grade: 4c | First Ascent: (1986-87)
    Rating: 0

    Climb Lester Corner to the flake, then go directly up the overhanging wall to a niche then finish up the slabby wall above.

  • 15 - Lester Rib

    Rating: 1

    At the end of the wall climb the prominent rib and a short corner above.

  • 16 - Lester Eliminate

    Rating: 1

    Start just round the rib and climb past two overhangs into a hanging crack which leads to the top.

  • 17 - Silent Solace

    Rating: 0

    Start as for Lester Eliminate and climb the thin crack that rises directly from the left side of the overhang.

  • 18 - Wirebrush Crack

    Rating: 0

    The crackline one metre left of the roof.

  • 19 - Newsom Slab

    Grade: 4b | First Ascent: -1970
    Rating: 1

    10 metres farther left and at right-angles is a steep, grey slab. Use the thin finger crack to climb the slab until a step right can be made. Step up then go left on good finishing holds.
