Beginner`s Buttress

  • 45 - First Night

    Climb the thin crackline just left of the right arête to a ledge,then finish up the flake on the left, or climb the wall direct (harder).

    The slanting corner which bounds Beginner`s Buttress on its left.

  • 47 - I See No Ships

    Rating: 0

    One metre to the right of the arête and ramp is a thin crack, appearing at mid-height. Climb the shattered groove below then step right to gain the crack. Continue to the top using the crack.

  • 48 - Reservoir Camels

    Grade: 5b | First Ascent: -1997
    Rating: 0

    A boulder problem route due to its lack of height and the absence of protection. Start at the far left of the open corner, for I See No Ships. Surmount the ramp on the left of the arête then climb the wall above on small but positive holds.

  • 49 - Beginner`s Buttress

    10 metres to the left of an open corner the wall emerges from the undergrowth on the right. Surmount the ledge on the slab and climb the groove above using steps on either side. A popular DESCENT from the Tower.

    The indistinct chimney left of Beginner`s Buttress, which is guarded by a pedestal.

  • 51 - Stag Party

    Rating: 1

    Twin cracks on the left lead to a ledge (The Bridal Suite), then climb the right-hand wall to the top.

  • 52 - Wedding March

    Rating: 1

    Climb the fine crack to the left end of the Bridal Suite. Continue up the crack or use the left wall and crack.
