Immediately right is a square-cut niche guarded by an overhang below. Climb the wall to enter this, then finish up the left edge of the slab above.

  • 53 - Ah-Med-It

    Grade: 4a | First Ascent: -1979
    Rating: 0

The hanging crackline three metres to the right, starting from a fallen block.

  • 54 - Blackburn Buttress

    Grade: 5a | First Ascent: -1974
    Rating: 0

Immediately to the right is a large block-overhang. Climb the short wall on the left of this, then make a sensational mantel right on to a ledge above the overhang and follow ledges to the top. It should be mentioned that doubts have been expressed about the stability of the block-overhang in the past, but it continues to defy gravity.

  • 55 - The First Third

    Grade: 5a | First Ascent: -1980
    Rating: 1

Start beneath the right-hand end of the block-overhang. Climb directly up the arĂȘte then go up the corner crack through two overhangs to a final groove. Finish on the left as for Blackburn Buttress.

  • 56 - Rising Dread

    Grade: 4b | First Ascent: -1979

At the end of the access ledge twin cracks/grooves lead up to a ledge at eight metres. Sandy moves rightwards lead to the top ledge and a grovel finish.

From the end of the access ledge step right to an obvious green groove. Climb this till forced out on the right wall, then go up to the top via two ledges.
